Fabrication of superhydrophobic surfaces by laser surface texturing and autoxidation

The creation of superhydrophobic surfaces (SHS) has received exceptional thought from the entire research community due to its notable application in varied fields such as anti-icing, self-cleaning, drag reduction, anti-bacterial, and oil-water separation. superhydrophobic (SH) conditions for a surface can be attained through consolidation low energy with appropriate micro/nano-surface roughness texturing. Motivated by SH nature lotus leaf petal effect, microstructures have been prepared this work on metal fiber laser marking machine at 35 W. textured different pitch diameter (p/d) ratio (2.0-0.70) turned into hydrophobic finally SH, after storing an ambient environment few days oxide layer deposition surface. In study, maximum contact angle achieved geometry 30 auto-oxidation was 158.6 o. Further, test results showed that fabricated high potential maintain their even harsh condition applications.
